A thali earns the word “royal” when it stops being one dish and becomes a spread — variety, generosity, and something worth sharing across the table. That is exactly what the Jashn-e-Tandoori Platter is: at ₹989, it is our largest vegetarian tandoori platter in Bengaluru, built to bring four to six people together around a single smoking centrepiece of kebabs, tikkas and chaap straight off the clay oven.
“Jashn” means celebration. It’s not a name we picked lightly — this is the plate people order when the family is finally all in town, when a promotion needs marking, or when a Sunday just deserves more than the usual.
What’s actually on the Jashn-e-Tandoori Platter
A platter is only royal if it delivers range. Ours moves you through soft, smoky, spiced and tangy rather than serving six versions of the same thing:
- Chaap — thick, marinated, char-edged, the piece most guests reach for twice.
- Paneer tikka — cubes cooked hot and fast so the outside chars while the centre stays soft.
- Hara Bhara-style kebabs — spinach, peas and herbs, the lighter note that keeps the platter from feeling heavy.
- Seekh-style rolls — hand-shaped, skewered, finished over open coals.
- Tandoori vegetables — capsicum, onion and pineapple that pick up smoke and sweetness.
- Accompaniments — mint chutney, sliced onion, lemon.
Everything is 100% vegetarian, as everything at Desi Chef is. Jain and onion-garlic-free preparations are available on request — mention it while ordering so the kitchen can marinate separately.
Why a tandoori platter in Bengaluru eats better than ordering à la carte
Order kebabs individually and two things happen: your table converges on one or two favourites, and the dishes arrive in waves, so half of them cool while the rest are still cooking. A platter fixes both. One order, one arrival, everything hot at the same moment, and everyone gets to try things they would never have picked from a menu.
It also does the maths in your favour. Six ordered separately — a Dilli Ka Achari Chaap at ₹329, a Veg Seekh Nawabi Andaaz at ₹379, a Hara Bhara Nawabi Tikka at ₹269 — climbs past the platter’s price before you’ve even reached the vegetables.
Platter or thali? How to choose
The two royal orders on our menu do different jobs. The Maharaja Thali (₹549) is a complete solo meal — six curries, peas pulao, mixed breads, chaas and mithai on one tray, meant for one person who wants everything. The Jashn-e-Tandoori Platter is the opposite instinct: one large shared centrepiece for a group, best paired with a couple of breads, a dal and a round of Masala Chaas or a Watermelon Mojito.
Simple rule: eating alone, order the thali. Eating together, order the platter.
Ordering tips from our kitchen
- Come between 12:00 and 2:00 PM for the Lunch Special — 25% off, which turns the platter into one of the best-value group meals on Thanisandra Main Road.
- Give us a heads-up for large groups. Tandoor work is sequential; a WhatsApp message to +91 8861924344 before you arrive means the skewers are ready when you sit down.
- Eat it fresh. Tandoori food loses its edge in a delivery box faster than curries do. If you can, dine in.
- Balance the table. A dal and a bread alongside stops an all-kebab meal from feeling one-note.
